The Battle of Georgian Bay 1998, 2001 - Overview

In August of 1998 and 2001, the first and second BATTLE OF GEORGIAN BAY events premiered in Midland/Penetanguishene, Ontario, Canada. These events generated widespread media coverage, critical acclaim and public interest.

Tens of thousands of visitors observed the colour and pageantry of over 2000 re-enactors from all over the world recreating War of 1812 / Revolutionary War Naval and Military tactics.

The BATTLE OF GEORGIAN BAY is a fictional War of 1812 / Revolutionary War Naval and Military battle. The event is hosted by the historic towns of Midland, Penetanguishene, Tiny Township and Discovery Harbour on the beautiful shores of Georgian Bay.

The Battle of Georgian Bay is a fictional event which involved an invasion by American forces who capture the Township of Tiny, the towns of Midland & Penetanguishene, as well as the secret naval base near Penetanguishene. British and Canadian troops, along with native allies & militia, spend the weekend attempting to recover the towns and the base.

The BATTLE OF GEORGIAN BAY featured authentic tactics, street fighting, marine assault landings, artillery, 5 tall ships, pillaging local merchants and cavalry charges. The living history encampment at Discovery Harbour featured over 2000 re-enactors, period entertainment featuring Tanglefoot, over 50 period merchants and artisans, Jack's Nasty Face period tavern and much, much, more!
