KEY FUNCTIONS - TALL SHIPS
The Battle of Georgian Bay 2001 will achieve
several key functions:
- This promotional event will position Your
Company/Business as a leading corporate supporter
of Ontario Tourism and Canadian heritage events.
- The Battle of Georgian Bay 2001 will offer
Your Company/Business the opportunity to
participate in a proven successful re-enactment event.

- The Battle of Georgian Bay is an
historical event full of color and pageantry, which will
increase tourism in the Midland/Penetanguishene area. The
opportunity to have Tall Ships attend is truly a rare
& special attraction and feature for all who attend.
- The Battle of Georgian Bay 2001 has the
cooperation and support of over 150 local merchants and
businesses. From participating in the pillaging to
providing services and products, a solid joint
promotional partnership has developed throughout the
Midland and Penetanguishene area supporting the Battle of
Georgian Bay, 2001.
- Corporate sponsorship of the Battle of
Georgian Bay 2001 will provide you the sponsor, with high
visibility of Your Company/Business
corporate name, logo and products to the Canadian
domestic tourism market and border United States tourism
market.
- Tall Ships as proven in 1994 at the Tall
Ship festival, draw huge crowds and interest from the
public, making advertising exposure for Your
Company/Business great and dollars well spent.
- The Battle of Georgian Bay will be the
largest War of 1812 re-enactment in Canada if not North
America. Over 1500 participants and 30,000 spectators are
predicted attending over the 4-day event.
LOGISTICS - TALL SHIPS
- From 10:00am on Friday, August 24th
to 5:00pm on Sunday August 26th, 2001, all of
the Tall Ships attending the Battle of Georgian Bay, 2001
will be moored at Discovery Harbour for public viewing
and boarding. We estimate that by the time the event
rolls around we will have between 10 and 12 Tall Ships
attending and participating in the Battle of Georgian
Bay, 2001. To date, we have 6 Tall Ships official booked
and attending the event. They include:
H.M.S. Tecumseth - Penetanguishene H.M.S. Bee -
Penetanguishene
H.M.S. Royalist - Kingston Niagara – Erie,
PA
Madeline - Traverse City, Michigan
Supporters, who take advantage of sponsoring a
Tall Ship early, will have the advantage of choosing a Tall Ship
from the list available on a first come first serve basis.
LOGISTICAL COMPONENTS:
As well as being moored at Discovery Harbour
for the weekend, all Tall Ships will be participating in all the
battles and events planned throughout the communities of Tiny
Township, Midland/Penetanguishene.
The Skirmish at Balm Beach Depot on
Thursday evening will mark the invasion of the Americans onto
Canadian soil with Tall Ships supporting an amphibious landing of
American troops by bateau.
The Attack on the Port of Midland will
feature one of the first re-enactments of a Tall Ship battle in
Canada on Friday evening. See and hear the roar of cannon as
wooden ships and iron men collide in a clash at sea. Tall Ship
sponsors have the opportunity to be aboard and partake in the
battle as you fight for country and honor.
The Parade and Pillaging of Penetanguishene
will see American ships circle the harbour in support of the
American pillaging efforts and by evening, British
re-enforcements arrive as another clash of ships and men ensues
with the Siege of Magazine Island at Discovery Harbour.
Sunday will see all Tall Ships moored at
Discovery Harbour for the day for public viewing as the Americans
Last Stand unfolds on land.
BENEFITS OF SPONSORING THE TALL SHIPS
- Exclusive sponsorship of one of the Tall
Ships attending the Battle of Georgian Bay, 2001 event.
- Accreditation as one of the corporate
sponsors of the Battle of Georgian Bay, Tall Ships and a
supporter of tourism and heritage in the Midland and
Penetanguishene area.
- Special Battle of Georgian Bay sponsors
appreciation & media reception aboard one of the Tall
Ships on Tuesday evening at Discovery Harbour prior to
the battle weekend. Space available for up to 4 members,
associates or employees of Your Company/Business
- VIP admission to Discovery Harbour and the
opportunity to be aboard your Tall Ship during the attack
on the port of Midland on Friday evening. Space available
for up to 4 members/associates or employees of Your
Company/Business. (Uniforms provided by request)
- Free admission to Discovery Harbour
provided to all staff members of Your
Company/Business. (Please provide us with
numbers)
- Corporate name/logo presence in all
advance and promotional advertising promoting the Tall
Ships and throughout the duration of the Battle of
Georgian Bay event. Advertising mediums will include,
radio, television, newspapers, flyers, banners, place
mats etc.
- Name/Logo displayed on the Battle of
Georgian Bay website Tall Ship Page, with a direct link
to Your Company/Business web site. Your
Company/Business name/logo also included on our
sponsors and links pages.
- Your Company/Business name
and logo presence incorporated into a British/American
historic ensign (large flag) that will be displayed at
all times from the stern of your Tall Ship. (Given to
sponsor as a thank you gift at the conclusion of the
battle weekend.)
- Inclusion of Your Company/Business
name in the Battle of Georgian Bay publicity campaign.
On-site promotional booth available.
- A Charitable Income Tax Deductible
Receipt for the full amount of the sponsorship
package made out to Your Company/Business.
SPONSORSHIP PACKAGE - TALL SHIPS
The cost of sponsoring one of the Tall Ships
for the Battle of Georgian Bay, 2001 is the contribution of
$4000.00 payable as follows:
- First payment of $1000.00 due upon signing
of the contract.
- Second payment of $1500.00 due six months
prior to the event weekend.
- Third payment of $1500.00 due two months
prior to the event weekend.
