A member of the band is a great historian about the regiment and if you wish I can put you in contact with him. The regiment fought in the wars of 1812 and in Gallopli, France at Beaumont Hamel and if you visit Veterans Affairs web site they have an excellent web site on the actions of the Regiment in France in world war 1. Best wishes on the site and greetings from the "rock".

Comments: HiFirstly I'd like to welcome anyone to my Welsh Regiment site. I've made contact with the Re-enactment Society in Ontario who specialise in the battle for Detroit and so on.I'm interested in your Regiment because someone descended from the Burslems, as does my wife, reckons that she had spotted either Wilougby James Burslem (bapt c1753) or his brother William Marshall Burslem (bapt c 1755) as being in the Newfoundland Regiment. ANy chance of vectoring me towards any sources that might help me check the veracity of the statement please? It seems that the 17th Welsh and the 18th welsh who fought so valiantly at Bourlon Wood in the battle of Cambrai (Nov 1917) may have fought alongside you regiment. There is some information on Bourlon Wood on my site. Finally, may I congratulate you on a splendid site.

To my knowledge King George told Newfoundland that they didnt need to send troops because of the vast sacrifice of world war one where the regiment lost over 75% of its troops at Beaumont Hammel. but other than this slight mistake your web site is nice and informative.

Comments: To whom it may concern,Your webpage concerning the re-enactments of the RNR in the War of 1812 is excellent. I am currently writing a university paper on the role of Newfoundlanders in the War of 1812, and your Milestones and Engagements section provided me a very valuable resource for my paper. Thank you, and keep up the good work!Ric Stryde,Montreal
