Re-enactment of Native/Voyageur Fur Trade Route 1814
Nottawasaga River - Edenvale, ON (Glengarry
Landing) to the mouth of the Nottawasaga River (Nancy Island Historic
Site) - 25 - 30 km River Run
Friday, July 25th - Starting at 9:00am and ending the latest by 2:00pm.
Wasaga under Siege 2008 is excited to announce that
a re-enactment of a convoy of voyageur canoes re-enacting a trek of the
Nottawasaga River fur trade route 1814 will be added to the list of
great activities taking place this year. The Upper Nottawasaga River is
basically the same way it looked in 1814 and spectators will have a
great opportunity to watch as hearty re-enactors experience the
environment and hardships that original natives and voyageurs
experienced first hand as they paddled and portaged along this historic
waterway. Wasaga Beach residents, especially those who reside
along the river and other public spectators who show their loyalty to
King George III by cheering on our hearty crews, flying the British
colours or showing their loyalty in other forms will receive a token of
the King's appreciation and a musket or cannon salute. For more
information regarding this exciting new component please contact David
Brunelle at wasagaundersiege1812@rogers.com

Look forward to hearing from you!!
